This week we're looking at the power of focus.
A concept to ponder...
If you chase two rabbits, you will catch neither one.
- Russian proverb
An insight from clinic...
It's about this time of the year that the majority of 'new year resolutions' have fallen away. Old habits are back, daily exercise regimes are long forgotten and the discovery of new hobbies is still just an idea. Is is because we're undisciplined and lazy? Nope. It's because we're trying to do too much.
With multiple goals competing for attention, it becomes difficult to prioritise your time. The moment you choose to focus on one thing at a time, you limit distractions and the stress of 'deciding what to do'.
The best bit? Honing in on one challenge and overcoming it gives you a tremendous feeling of success; when you kick ass on your first goal, you know you can kick ass on the next one.
A practical tool to try...
Take the time to write out all of your goals this week, then pick the ONE that you most want to achieve first.
Write this goal on a sticky note and put it somewhere you will see it every day, several times per day. When you see that goal, picture yourself having already achieved it, and really get into the feeling of enjoying having achieved it.
